Wrexham Swimming Club Tops The League
Members of Wrexham Swimming Club Juniors are celebrating after topping the East Clwyd League for 2011.
The result was confirmed after the club triumphed at a meeting at Hollywell Baths yesterday where the final results were as follows:
5th Flint. Joint 3rd Connahs Quay, Buckley 2nd Mold 1st Wrexham
The club has four children’s groups including the under 9s, u10s, u11s and u12s.
Disciplines include the butterfly, backstroke, front crawl, breast stroke and 4×4 relay.
The evening finished yesterday with the “cannon” where a boy and girl from each age group swims one length each in an 8×1 team frontcrawl relay.
After a tense wait the youngsters were delighted to be confirmed as East Clwyd League champions and were awarded the league trophy by three times Commonwealth Games and one time World Championship swimmer, Lowri Tynan from Wrexham who happily posed with them for pictures.
The final league standings were as follows:
1st Wrexham 2nd Buckley 3rd Mold 4th Connahs Quay 5th Flint.
