Prior to today’s Budget the usual Prime Minsters Questions was held, with local MP Ian Lucas managing to bag a converted spot to quiz the Prime Minister.

Mr Lucas asked, “Wrexham and North Wales are a strong manufacturing and exporting region, but its growth is constrained by lack of access to airports in North West England.”

Citing work by the Office for Rail Regulation, who are currently considering applications for rail plans including North Wales, he asked David Cameron: “Will the Prime Minister support a cross party campaign for fairness for North Wales and for access to airports in North West England?”

Mr Cameron replied saying he had recent meetings and would look very carefully at the idea, “There is a strong case for how we can better connect North Wales with the North West of England and make sure we build on the economic strength of both”.

In 2014 Mr Lucas claimed a decent double, by being told off in PMQ’s by the speaker not once, but twice.
