Wrexham Inclusion Football Club will host a disability football competition this weekend in memory of a former player and friend who passed away last year.

The event, which will feature a 24 team disability football competition, will take place on Sunday 6th May at The Rock – home of Welsh Premier League side Cefn Druids.

The day is taking place in memory of long term service user and friend of the club, Richard Williams, who sadly passed away in April 2017.

Teams from Skelmersdale, Doncaster, Leek, Sherwood, Kidderminster and further afield will travel to take part in the maiden competition for the inclusion club.

On offer will be the inclusion cup and plate, the diversity cup and plate and the community cup and plate, and all of these will be eagerly contested by 192 players.

Local residents and spectators are being invited to come along and support the event and find out more about Wrexham Inclusion Football Club and the work they do locally.

There are lots of trophies and medals to win on the day and the club encourage all local residents to pop along and see how the club works.

The club travels to over 25 competitions and events around the UK each year. This year they will travel to Munich for the European Mental Health Championships for the second time; having ranked fourth last year.

A trip in June for 22 of the squad will see the team compete against 72 disability clubs from around the UK in the George Best Community Cup.

General manager Wayne Greenshields said: “We are hugely thankful to Cefn Druids for supporting us on the day and couldn’t of done this without their help.”

Spectators are welcome with refreshments available on site from Cefn Druids FC. Team registration is from 9am, tournament kicks off from 10am-5pm
