A team of ten from Wrexham Fire Station will be amongst those taking on the ten-mile Nightingale House Hospice Midnight Walk fundraiser in the town later this month.

The event, returning by popular demand, will mark the launch of a new fundraising initiative to refurbish the in-patient unit, further improving the hospice’s first-class facilities and services.

The Wrexham Red Watch team have set themselves a £1000 fund raising target for the event on Saturday 25 June.

The hospice was unable to celebrate its 25-year anniversary in 2020 due to the pandemic and hopes people will join the Midnight Walk and celebrate now that people can all get together again.

The event has returned this year after many requests from the community, enabling people to take a trip down memory lane and once again light up the streets of Wrexham.

Fire Fighter Neil Upton from the Wrexham Red Watch said: “Entering the Midnight Walk will provide us all with a positive shared experience which will be a great team building activity for the Watch.

“We very much enjoy helping the community and feel it is important to do so.

“Taking part in the walk gives us the opportunity to support Nightingale House so that they can continue to offer a wide range of care and facilities to patients and their families living with life-limiting illness”

Organisers Sarah Povey and Sam Amis from the hospice said: “We would like to thank the team at Wrexham Fire Station for supporting The Midnight Walk and we hope their participation encourages more men to join in the fun too!

“The Midnight Walk is all about bringing people together to share one amazing experience and raise lots of money for patient care services.”

To take part, visit the Nightingale House Website or call the fundraising team on 01978 314292. All are welcome, including children aged 12 and over who are accompanied by an adult over 18

Registration and entertainment will start from 9pm at Llwyn Isaf field, outside Wrexham’s Guildhall.
