A local pop punk band have been named the winners of Best British Newcomer at the annual Kerrang! Awards.

Neck Deep were crowned the winners of the Best British Newcomer award at a ceremony in London last Thursday.

The five piece fought off tough competition from Bury Tomorrow, Blitz kids, Decade and Lonely The Brave to win the award.

Writing on their Facebook page after the event, the band stated: “WE BLOODY DID IT!!! Thank you so much to each and every one of you that voted and thank you to every single person who has supported and believed in this band. We wouldn’t be here without you and you’ve made our dreams a reality. We love you all.”

Since forming in 2012, Neck Deep have been branded ‘on of the UK’s most exciting and fastest rising names’. Comprising of Ben Barlow, Lloyd Roberts, Matt West, Dani Washington and Fil Thorpe Evans, the band are currently touring America as part of the well-known ‘Warped Tour’. The band will be sharing the stage with All Time Low, Yellowcard, Falling In Reverse and Less Than Jake.

Last year Wrexham.com reported that the band had been signed to major US record label, Hopeless Records; an independent record label that has signed some of the biggest names in the Pop Punk genre.

Neck Deep have since gone on to release their debut album ‘Wishful Thinking’, which was launched in Central Station back in January.
