A Wrexham police inspector has warned that anyone involved with drug supply in the town will be “dealt with in the strictest terms.”

The statement follows reports of successful recent drug warrants executed at addresses in the town and parts of Merseyside and Lancashire

Warrants were successfully executed at addresses in Wrexham, Liverpool and Chorley as part of a co-ordinated two-day operation on February 15 and 17.

Seven arrests were made on Tuesday and all suspects have been charged with conspiracy to supply Class A and B drugs.

A further four arrests were made this morning following warrants executed in the Wrexham area, with all suspects currently in custody.

A three-month covert investigation led by North Wales Police yielded intelligence on individuals suspected of OCG involvement and large-scale drug supply.

Cumulatively, a total of 10kg of drugs were seized along with cash seizures in excess of £20,000.

An earlier arrest of a linked suspect in late January resulted in a 2kg Class A seizure along with 9kg of Class B substances.

Discussing the recent raids on Wrexham addresses, Inspector Luke Hughes said: “Following the series of warrants across Wrexham, Merseyside and Lancashire, I want to stress to those who are intent on supplying drugs on our streets that we will not simply give up.

“We will continue to address these issues. Be that by local low-level disruption from our neighbourhood teams or protracted and detailed investigations by our dedicated task force.

“We will continue to track down those people who are intent on exploiting our community, living a life of luxury at their expense and who have no regard to the misery it may cause.

“Wrexham, like any other town or city in the UK, has drugs issues, but I’m not sure many have had such a succession of high-profile operations and removed quite as many of these individuals from our community as we have in recent years.

“The drugs they peddle have been taken and destroyed and the money seized re-invested in the community they attempted to damage.

“I wonder when they will finally get the message – I hope it is soon as they are not very good at getting away with it.”
