A ‘temporary measure’ aiming to eradicate parking and traffic issues on a heavily congested Wrexham road is set to be implemented.

A section of Ruthin Road which is adjacent to Bellevue Park is to be subject to an ‘experimental order prohibiting parking’ at certain locations on the stretch of road – with the changes set to be implemented from tomorrow morning.

Parking and traffic issues on the road have become well known for those who travel and live in the area, with some previously joking that the road resembles a ‘stand-off’ when cars are travelling in both directions.

Back in September Wrexham.com reported that a series of traffic surveys had been undertaken on the stretch of road following a number of complaints. The surveys were ‘undertaken to help inform the development and consideration of possible options to improve safety and traffic flows in this area’.

In response to the congestion issues a ‘temporary measure’ which aims to eradicate the parking issues on the road is set to be introduced, with works taking place from 6:30am tomorrow.

A spokesperson for Wrexham Council said: “Following concerns raised by residents and the wider general public, in relation to the issues of indiscriminate and inconsiderate parking of vehicles on Ruthin Road, and the congestion that results from such actions, Officers of the Housing, Public Protection and Environment Department of Wrexham County Borough Council, in consultation with Cllr Jenkins, Cllr Wynn and Offa Community Council, propose to introduce an experimental order prohibiting parking, at identified locations along this length of highway, adjacent to Bellevue Park.

“These works, which are due to be implemented on Thursday 26th November, as a temporary measure, will eradicate the on-going congestion and conflict issues, which regularly occur along this length of highway, and so allow for the greater movement of traffic on Ruthin Road.

“In order to accommodate the implementation of these works it has been necessary to action a temporary road closure on Ruthin. This closure is due to commence at 6:30am and will remain in place until such time as all works are complete.

“Access for residents and business will be maintained during these works at the junction of Ruthin Road and Ruabon Road, at Pen-y-Bryn.”
