Surveys on a congested stretch of road in Wrexham Town Centre have been mid amid calls from motorists to help improve the current traffic situation.

The A525 Ruthin Road, between Bellevue Park and Watery Road has been an ongoing issue to many motorists and residents who regularly travel down the stretch of road.

Over the past few weeks a number of people have contacted Wrexham.com regarding the situation, with one person telling Wrexham.com that the number of cars parked on either side of the road makes it difficult when you’re faced with a car travelling in the opposite direction.

Others have previously joked that trying to get past another car is similar to having a ‘stand-off’ to see who reverses first.

As a result of the traffic issues in that particular area a number of parking and traffic surveys have taken place over the past few weeks.

Cllr David A Bithell, Lead Member for Environment and Transport, added: “I am aware of the concerns raised regarding the situation on Ruthin Road/Bellevue Road area of town and that Highways Officers are in discussion with Local Members and Community Council. In recent weeks, a number of traffic and parking related surveys have been undertaken to help inform the development and consideration of possible options to improve safety and traffic flows in this area.”

In a separate Ruthin Road incident, a number of motorists this morning were left frustrated after they experienced long delays in the area.

Dyfan Jones told Wrexham.com that the ‘traffic on Ruthin Road is getting worse everyday’, with this morning’s traffic backed up towards Coedpoeth.

Tom Manford added: “Please sort the traffic lights out at the Ruthin Road junction in the morning – took 30 minutes today!”

The issue was initially reported to be due to a traffic light fault, with Steve contacting Wrexham.com to say that the lights were only letting three or four vehicles through at a time.

We have contacted Wrexham Council and are awaiting comment as to if there were any traffic light issues in the area earlier this morning.
