Travellers were today moved on from a retail park in the town centre and Council owned land in Caia Park.

This afternoon travellers were speedily moved on by a police patrol car who spotted the travellers on the Wickes car park.

One person contacted us via Twitter to say there were six vans parked in the car park in Wickes this afternoon, however they were seen leaving the car park shortly after 1pm.

We had heard that Caia Park was a further possible destination this afternoon, with one person getting in touch to say they had spotted the travellers parked on a plot of land between Queensway Stadium and the Venture.

Wrexham Council confirmed that the travellers have moved to an area locally known as the Dunks in Caia Park and are aware that the travellers have moved onto Council Land.

However at 5:30pm @blue_foreva tweeted us this picture, saying that most have moved on from The Dunks.

It is believed there were initially five caravans parked on the land.

Sergeant Wesley Williams later tweeted to say that the caravans have been moved on from the land behind Queensway.

We have since been sent several photos / had reports that the travellers have now moved to the land next to the skate park in Rhosddu.

This afternoon the Chester Chronicle is reporting that travellers have been moved on from a golf course in Chester, with travellers ‘refusing to leave unless staff pay up around £1,000, warn police’.

Yesterday a number of travellers were moved on from Clays Golf outside of Wrexham, however it seems Cheshire Police and North Wales Police have not liaised with the warning not being passed over. However the travellers who were moved on from the golf course yesterday are not the same travellers who were moved from Wickes car park this morning.

Clays Golf told us today they were unaware of such a warning. Clays Golf told us yesterday about the arrival of ‘unwelcome’ travellers, saying: “They are currently trespassing our land” and referred to ‘threats’ being made.

A spokesperson for Clays Golf added: “Kids are running wild and the Police and WCBC council are not interested.”
