The Pontcysyllte Aqueduct is to temporarily close to the public next month for essential repairs.

Work on the Pontcysyllte Aqueduct parapet / towpath will take place between 30 January 2017 and February 17 2017.

As a result the pathway will be closed to the public during the duration of the works.

An advance warning published by the Canal and River Trust in Wales about the work, says: “Unfortunately it will be necessary to close the towpath to pedestrians during this time.

“A daytime canal closure will also be implemented Monday to Saturday between the hours of 9am and 3pm. These are to protect the public and to allow the works to be undertaken safely.

“We apologise for any inconvenience caused and hope to mitigate this where possible. Please be aware of warning signage and fencing. They will be in place for your safety. Thank you for your patience.”
