Police are reminding residents not to let the warm weather lead to a lax in security measures.

When temperatures rise, the police often see a rise in the levels of theft and burglaries due to people leaving their doors and windows open. This can lead to valuable items such as tools and bicycles being left insecure.

Sergeant Arwel Ellis from the Wrexham and Flintshire Community Safety team suggests some simple tips to reduce the changes of falling victim to such crime this summer.

  • Always close and lock your doors and windows when you are not home
  • Close and locks doors of rooms you are not using
  • Don’t leave patio or conservatory doors and windows unlocked
  • Lock up before going to bed
  • Don’t leave any bicycles or tools out. Keep them locked away, note serial numbers and keep a photographic record of valuable property such as bikes.

For further advice or assistance in relation to all types of crime prevention, contact the police control room on 101 and ask for your details to be passed to the local Community Safety Department or alternatively send an email to[email protected].POLICE.UK
