Traffic Wales say they have been monitoring traffic flows through the A483 roadworks area, and have discovered rush hour is when it is busiest.

The roadworks are ‘essential’ as part of a larger scale of works and resurfacing work later in the year, with many critical of the impact on their travel time on the road.

The findings were announced yesterday with Traffic Wales also releasing the above traffic graph showing the peak traffic flows are when people are traveling in the morning or when they are traveling home later in the day.

Currently there are roadworks between Junctions 5 (B&Q Mold Rd roundabout) and Junction 7 Rossett.

They added, “We have been monitoring Traffic Flows through the Roadworks area. The busiest day for travel is Friday and peak times are 7-9am then 3-5pm.”

“Please plan ahead and allow additional time for your journeys and avoid the peak travel times if possible.”

The works have been creating ongoing delays in the area, and is set to run through until next month.

The works will include increasing the length of two central reserve crossovers together with drainage and barrier upgrades.

The existing surfacing in this location is “in an extremely poor state” and will require replacing later this year. When that happens, in order to carry out this work as quickly and as safely as possible, traffic will be placed into a contraflow situation using the crossovers in the central reserve however as the crossovers are not fit to use they are being ‘upgraded’ now.

Traffic Wales published this picture of the works last week noting drainage works are now 50% complete and resurfacing and safety fencing work was starting.

In order to minimise disruption to the travelling public it was decided that both crossovers would be upgraded simultaneously over a period of 6 weeks rather than two separate shorter traffic management set-ups on the A483 for a period of 12 weeks.
