A date has been set for the opening of Wrexham’s new TK Maxx store – a move which will see the retailer ‘relocate’ to a large retail park.

Back in July Wrexham.com reported that plans had unveiled for TK Maxx to ‘relocate’ to an empty until on the Plas Coch Retail Park, with Savills stating that a 15 year lease had been signed.

Since then work has been underway renovating the former JJB store on Plas Coch, which makes up 10,068 sq ft unit on the retail park.

‘Ram raiding’ bollards have been installed outside the store, with a new mezzanine also expected to have been added to the property to create ‘additional sales space’.

The store has been a long term occupier of Island Green and is one of the few original stores left on the site.

Plas Coch Retail Park is already home to Frankie and Benny’s, DW Sport, Boots, Pets and Home and Sports Direct. The relocation of TK Maxx will mean that the Plas Coch Retail Park is now full to capacity, with the store filling the remaining vacant store.

There had been some confusion as to when the store would open, however new signage in the window of the building states that the store will open 9am on Thursday 18th February 2016.

We have contacted TK Maxx as to why they are relocating and have yet to receive a comment.
