An official opening date has been set for the new £35m Wrexham Industrial Estate link road.

The long awaited upgrade will be opened by Carl Sargent, Local Government and Communities Minister on 16 July ahead of schedule.

Plans for the opening include a convoy of vehicles linked to the industrial estate driving down the new road.

The road has been built with 100% funding provided by the Welsh Government and provides welcome and long awaited improvements to the north and south access to one of Europe’s largest industrial estates.

The northern route runs from Borras roundabout in the north to Bryn Lane roundabout in the south, where it connects with the estate’s ring road adjacent to the JCB factory.

Meanwhile the southern route will run from the A525 at Cross Lanes in the south to the estate at Five Fords.

Since October last year all A534 Holt Road traffic has been temporarily running on what will eventually become a combined footway, cycleway and agricultural access, enabling the current work on the permanent dual carriageway A534 to be carried out without traffic.
