No details have been given over the possible ‘disposal’ or sale of council land to a ‘special purchaser’.

An item has been on the work programme for Wrexham Council’s Executive Board that would see a report come forward seeking approval “for the disposal of Plas Power Site, Tanyfron, from the Economic Estate to a special purchaser”, and possibly a decision due during July.

The two line description of the item states “terms of the disposal to reflect the prospective purchasers’ commitment to maintain the ecological site adjoining Berwyn Prison in perpetuity”.

There is no detail on who the ‘special purchaser’ is, nor the reason for the disposal.

We have enquired about the deal, asking what is the land, and has approval been give to dispose of it, and who is the special purchaser.

Wrexham Council told us, “Work is still ongoing with these proposals and we are hopeful to take a report to Executive Board in the Spring of 2021.”
