‘Holiday’s Are Coming’ to Wrexham this week with the iconic Coca-Cola Christmas Truck paying a visit to the town.

The festive season has begun and to celebrate the holiday season the Coca-Cola Truck will stop off in Wrexham on Friday during its nationwide tour of cities and town.

The Coca-Cola Christmas Truck will arrive in Wrexham at midday, stationing itself in Queens Square in the town centre until 8pm.

Throughout the day visitors will be able to have their photo taken with the truck as well as having the chance to enjoy a sample Coca-Cola or Diet Coke. Sample drinks will not be given to children under the age of 12, however the Coca-Cola website states: “At the truck stops, we are happy to give parents a Coca-Cola or Diet Coke to pass to their child at their discretion.”

While this is the first time the Coca-Cola Christmas Truck has visited Wrexham, the truck itself has been a regular feature of festive television since appearing on our screens in November 1993.

For many it is universally recognised as a personal countdown to Christmas.

A spokesperson for Coca-Cola said: “We are delighted to be taking the iconic Coca-Cola Christmas truck to Wrexham in 2014. We try to go to a range of new locations every year and this year, we’re spreading Christmas cheer to 15 new cities.

“Whilst the truck tour is taking a slightly different route this year it has been carefully planned to ensure that as many parts of the country as possible are visited.”

In addition to Wrexham the iconic Coca-Cola Christmas truck will be stopping at 45 further locations up and down the country, giving fans the opportunity to take part in a unique experience by getting up close and personal to the famous vehicle.

In 2013, fans were keen to check out the route of Coca-Cola’s Truck Tour as its website received nearly two million hits. 200,000 people appeared in the photos taken from the visits and throughout the Christmas campaign, festive cheer was shared 57 million times using #HolidaysAreComing.

Last year the Coca-Cola Truck visited Broughton Retail Park, causing traffic chaos on the A483 / A55.

With this in mind we queried with the Council if anything has been planned to help ease any congestion. A spokesperson for Wrexham Council said: “One of the attractions of the town centre is its ease of access for the Coca Cola truck. There are also several main arteries into the town centre and lots of car parking available.”

Please bear in mind that it is likely there may be a queue to have your photo taken with the truck, so it’s best to arrive with plenty of time. It is advised you visit the truck for photos before 7:45pm as the event will finish ‘promptly’ at 8pm.

Photos taken professionally at the event will be uploaded via www.holidaysarecoming.com/photo for you to download after the event, however visitors are allowed to take their own photos at the truck as well.

We will also be popping down to see the Coca-Cola Truck so feel free to tweet @wrexham with your photos as well!
