Two events celebrating all that is great about Wrexham are to take place in the town centre this weekend.

Set The Bar, which is situated in the Wrexham Bus Station, will play host to the two celebratory events which will take place over the next two days.

Both events have been organised to celebrate the positive side of Wrexham after three weeks of negative press, both locally and nationally.

The first event, ‘We Are Wrexham‘, will take place from 7pm tomorrow evening (Friday 24th March) and will bring together a host of musical acts, poets and businesses to celebrate all the great things about Wrexham.

The event is free to attend, however there will be a donation point on behalf of Wrexham Foodbank – with both food and cash appreciated.

On Saturday 25th March Set The Bar will host a second event titled #ignite, which will celebrate female entrepreneurs and artists and women in business.

During the evening there will be live music and poetry, along with a screening of short films made by students from Coleg Cambria. There will also be motivational speeches from local, inspirational women.

The aim is to encourage young girls and women that are thinking of starting their own business or turning their hobby into a full time job and by giving them success stories and showing them that it can be done.

Fern told Wrexham.com that she hopes the event will inspire any women and girls who are thinking of starting their own business.

“As a woman that has started her own business I have often felt overlooked and underestimated, and I have sometimes felt that female entrepreneurs aren’t celebrated as much as they should be,” said Fern.

“I wanted to get the message out there to other women that if you really want something, and you’re willing to work hard enough for it, you can achieve anything you put your mind to.

“So I created an event that celebrates female entrepreneurs, female artists, and women with important and inspirational roles, in the hope that we can inspire any women and girls that are thinking of starting their own business or turning their hobby into a career.

“We already have great support from lots of local businesswomen and artists, and the event itself will be a great mixture of live music, poetry, motivational speeches and short inspirational films. I have received a lot of help from Pete Rogers, who has created a short film to show at the event, and has drummed up a lot of support for it.

“I am really looking forward to the event, and hope that we get a good turnout and in turn get to inspire some women to do what they love!

“Both events are open to all ages (and genders) and we want to encourage people to come as we have a lot of support for both events.”

#ignite will take place at Set The Bar from 6pm on Saturday 25th March.
