Armed police conducted an operation Queensway this evening.

Police have now ‘dispersed’ from the area, which residents who saw the operation unfold say involved two people being detained by armed officers.

Original information below:

Multiple police vehicles are blocking Queensway with armed police, unarmed officers and dog units on the scene.

Around 15 minutes before the large response on Queensway a cluster of armed officers were seen behind the town’s ASDA store.

Chris sent us the top picture of armed officers near to Prince Charles Road / Queensway junction, with Shannon sending the below picture from Queensway.

Several armed police units have been circulating in the town centre this afternoon, following the appeal to trace murder suspect Jordan James Lee Davidson – more here for that appeal.
