North Wales Police have issued a statement explaining yesterday’s armed police activity around town, and have also appealed for information after a serious assault earlier in the week.

Police investigating a serious assault in Wrexham earlier this week have arrested five people as part of an operation in Wrexham county.

On Monday officers were called to an address in Almond Grove in Rhosnesni at 1.19pm following reports of an assault in which a local man sustained serious but non-life threatening injuries.

As a result of the police operation yesterday five adults, three men and two woman have been arrested in connection with the incident.

DCI Gary Kelly said: “This is an ongoing inquiry and I would like to thank the community for their patience and understanding while we continue our investigation.

“If anyone has information related the incident in Almond Grove, or which they believe please could assist us , please contact North Wales Police on 101 quoting reference number W041257.”

Yesterday armed police were seen at several locations in the area, starting with an address on King’s Court in Hightown, Birch Street and as well as a report of activity in Penley.
