Roadworks on the bypass this morning have caused tailbacks north and south of the town.

The works (as we noted on Sunday here) are ‘essential drainage works’ on the A483 Wrexham bypass, and are due to last all week.

The traffic issues are best illustrated by this Google Traffic map view, showing the southbound queues in red from Rossett and the northbound problems from Rhostyllen:

Despite many this morning having a pop at Wrexham Council, the works are undertaken by the North Mid Wales Trunk Road Agency.

Many have asked why the works are not being done at night, with the only information being the vague: “Due to the nature of the works involved the works will be undertaken during the day and will be under lane restrictions.”

The issues on the bypass also affected slip roads and nearby roads as well, with the problems ongoing through the early morning:
