You would be surprised Ben10. I work with a voluntary group and the Mayor & Mayoress come with smiles on theirs faces and to children it is if a King & Queen have come. At least our Mayor is local and is genuinely interested in what we try to achieve. Why do you think that people invite them? They don’t just turn up out of the blue. A feel good factor is very important otherwise we would all be miserable. Misery breeds misery.

I think that maybe you are plucking figures from the air. Having children & grandchildren I know of a great many events, no matter how small, that the Mayor attends if asked, & which is the focal point of the event. Some people work extremely hard unpaid and it is nice for them to be recognised for what they do.
Wearing their chains of office which are already in place, a past council purchased number plates which don’t have to be paid for again, the robes when needed are already bought. Would you prefer that they catch the bus? A feel good factor is beyond price. For Heavens sake we don’t have much of a feel good factor these days. No I am not, nor ever have been employed by the council.

If you get rid of the Mayor now in times of this round of cuts, what would you get rid of 20 years down the line when if happens again. No, I think that we should keep some of the pomp & ceremony to brighten our lives & also as money in the bank for the really hard times.

As far as I remember, a lot of the demise of the football club started with allowing no good, low lives get involved in the running of it. They didn’t pay the bills which meant that Wrexham lost points and then ran it into the ground after sucking every last bit of equity out of it. It is in an excellent position for away supporters with the railway & bus stations within easy walking distance, just off the bypass and there was ample parking until the low lives moved in. It will be a long hard road for Wrexham to climb back up but the Crusaders Rugby Club is an excellent partner as long as they can rub shoulders without falling out.

The Wrexham Racecourse ground has heritage on it’s side. Any other town would promote that fact to the hilt. It would be Wrexham, Home of the Oldest International Football Stadium in Europe/ World, on every signpost leading into the town.

The North Wales Miners Association Trust will oppose it if they don’t restore what was damaged first. The whole building is listed not just a part of it. The more objections received by the planning dept. the stronger the case.

I wonder if the Cardiff International Swimming pool makes money. It sounds fantastic. The only gripes in the reviews were that it was a few centimetres short of the full 50 metres, a bit far out if you don’t have a car, the car park is too small & it doesn’t have the traditional facilities such as badminton & the bus service is a bit haphazard. Apart from that it sounds wonderful. A 50 metre pool, 2 x 25 metres, 5 water slides, fantastic gym facilities, seating for 1000 if I have remembered rightly & a coffee shop. That would take up the Waterworld car park so where would you be able to park. You would have to factor in of course the loss of parking charges in the car park as it stands which could be quite a substantial sum as it is a sizeable car park. Do you think that they would provide a free bus service from the outreaching villages? We would need some better road links too.

Oh, I don’t know. Perhaps they are being true to the people who elected them judging by the wide amount of support that the leisure centre has. You can’t accuse them of towing the ‘Party’ line.

Is it possible that the crime figures appear to have gone down because people don’t report crimes due to it being unlikely that the criminals will be apprehended and charged?

As a child many years ago, I was taught that if you you were afraid or lost, that the person to approach would be a policeman as you could trust them. Nowadays, I can’t tell a policeman from a security guard as they all look the same. How would I tell my grandchildren how to recognise a real policeman if they needed help.
