Because they can make more money with a speed camera van, or have been brain washed by the ‘speed kills’ massage. (and if required it’s cheaper than improving a road design)

. . . . but still keep the 30mph speed limit, camera vans and average speed cameras of course.:mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad:

Of course, rarely will they admit a mistake.

    Off topic example…..
The B5426, from the A483 to the Plassey, it was National speed limit on a twisty road but then they installed two traffic calming chicanes that were mega dangerous long skid marks from cars, trucks and caravans due to poor visibility giving way to oncoming traffic, so did they realise their mistake and remove them… No they dropped the speed limit to 40mph due to the council/highways now making the road more dangerous. And still the skid marks increase on the road surface.

Not sure of exact location of these but quite often they are by the end of slip road entry and caused by people’s inability to enter a dual c/w correctly. I do quite a lot of driving and see daily, drivers slowing/stopping at the end of slip roads because they are scared of matching the speed of the traffic they are about to join. There are times when also when this is caused by idiot drivers in lane one of dual c/w not moving out to lane 2 when possible or tailgating cars in front so joining cars can’t get in front😠

Is this the sort of bad planning you refer to seen yesterday (Time +1 hour on clip)….

Can’t be bad driving or poor planning looking at the recent leader story.

The Leader – News from Wrexham & Flintshire – Probe ordered after multiple crashes on Wrexham road

It must be speed, its the only thing that causes accidents if you listen to the media and local councils looking to generate funds from speed cameras and vans. Lets make the entire A483 30mph, complete with average speed cameras every 500 yards so no one can speed, then when the accidents still happen maybe we can look at the real cause?

Two things that will help businesses in Wrexham town centre are lower business rates ( revaluation urgent ) and cheaper parking, ideally with a free period of at least 90 minutes.
Even the short stay parking available works – needs to be more of it.
I regularly wait for my bus in King Street bus station after work and its amazing how many customers park up, collect their Chinese takeaway and drive off, all within 10 to 15 mins. Imagine the impact if this wasn’t possible.
Similarly the new cup cake cafe in Charles Street, forgetting their online delivery for a moment, it really must boost trade that customers can park up free, collect their cup cakes and go. Imagine again if there was no free parking.
Roll out this principle to every store in Wrexham and the benefit to the tills would be profound.
Looking on Wrexham.com and elsewhere its proven beyond doubt that shoppers don’t like paying for parking, or at best seek value for money parking, it is something needing to be accepted as simple fact – then do something about it.

100% Agree! Personally I normally only go into town for banking business cheques / cash, I find some 30min on street parking go to the bank then get out of there. If I had 90 min of free parking in town then I would certainly walk a different way back to the car for a look around, and may even visit a shop or two and spend money.

I even park on street for 30 min if visiting stores like Maplin, go in get what I want and get back home.

As said above (and a few times through the thread) its not just EE. O2 are rubbish also, never mind 4G or 3G, in my hose in Rhostyllen I struggle to get an O2/GiffGaff Signal for calls / text!

For useless comparison, Chester NCP Pepper St 2 hrs : £5.30

But their are cheaper options in and around Chester, and Chester is a nice place to visit with many shops, bars and interesting buildings.

I see Vinci have not rushed to update the prices on the web site, maybe when they do visitors will look elsewhere when parking (to much hassle for a visitor once in the car park to look elsewhere)

This thread was started over two years ago and this situation is still the same . Good to see the Leader has caught up with it today and discovered how bad the problem is in Wales compared to England !

I only just noticed the post dates, thought the thread was started because of the leader story.

There seems to be a knee jerk reaction to ban or alter something whenever a dangerous event occurs, but you can not ban or alter stupidity or carelessness.

Maybe if vehicles, trains, cars, motorbikes all limited limited to 10mph, fitted with automatic braking and all round foam so people could randomly walk in front of them when ever they wished the world would be a safer place and no one would have to think about transport safety.

The level crossing is not really required as there is a footbridge nearby. This is an effort to remove access to the railway line to prevent children playing on the track.

Will children just not climb over the post and wire fence if the crossing is removed?

Just to add I have never used, and probably never will use the crossing concerned or the nearby footbridge, so if either or both were removed it would not effect me.
