HGVs and buses must use this road also to supply our shops and businesses. They do not have the same turn circle as a car and so may require the red painted area in order to pass through this area.
I would be surprised if they need the extra room as its quite a wide curve, however to your point maybe they could install something like 2″ raised cats eye type markers ‘a mini rumble strip’ to encourage drivers to merge side by side further down the road?
Anyway best let people get back to the original post, sorry for the hijack!
SteveParticipantThe only thing I would say about the other side is you had to stop if you were going into the sorting office, however as it’s post workers or disabled only now then I agree!
SteveParticipantThe situation could possible be ‘helped’ if the two left hand lane markings continued across to the exit road as they do in many cities.
**** OFF TOPIC ****
This junction, why do people stop and give way (where the green car is in the photo), why do they not simply merge while driving down the road???
The council could have forced people to merge by extending the kerbing on the traffic island so cars were both pointing the same way before a decision on merging had to take place.
Wrexham Council ‘particularly highways’ appear to rarely make things straightforward.
SteveParticipantWith BOTH left hand lanes for Town Centre / Acton.
…and the roundabout exit
I would not say its an overflow lane it is simply one of the two lanes you can take to exit for Town / Acton. Guess people will have to live with other beeping and giving funny looks when in fact they are clearly in the wrong.
Suppose the council could paint some more arrows or signs for people who can’t read or see the ones that are already in place?
SteveParticipantMy wife went with my daughter and other family members, had a great time at the event!!!!
SteveParticipantPersonally while I think the poster is a waste of time and money, it’s message is clear, and the clue is in the ‘title’ illegal immigrants.
SteveParticipantSo you are referring to this junction where BOTH the left hand lanes allow you to exit and merge in turn going towards Acton?
Then 3rd lane for A483 and 4th lane for Pandy and Chester (if you missed the exit last time around)
SteveParticipantThe AA man did have some cloudy petrol in the inspection bowl that was taken from the car before mine was done.
SteveParticipantI believe they have pressure tested the tanks on the forecourt and all was fine.
I guess they will be doing more investigations into what happened, but the story appears to be that the tanker brought the water with the petrol, and put it in one of the unleaded storage tanks.
Guess we will have to wait for the full investigation now.
SteveParticipantHad the wife’s car sorted out by the AA today, here petrol looked to be clear of water, however I am happy we now know it is ok. Draining the tank or breaking down appears to be the only way to know if you have the problem. I would guess that if you have been driving for a day then you are fine.
What I “know”
A tanker had water in it and it has put in one of the unleaded forecourt tanks.
Depending which of the unleaded nozzles you used then depends if you were effected.
About 30 cars were effected and the AA have dealt with about 15 that have come forward with problems.
I did see today a man working on the tanks and pumping clear water looking liquid from the tank inspection cover to a drain around the inspection covers. The AA Drained and put £12 of fresh petrol in.
Morissons gave me £20 of fuel and I will need to clam the rest of it back off their insurance. -
