Makes me laugh seeing people commenting on Facebook things like “how can they afford these posh new buses when they are stopping services to other areas” 😂

Do people honestly not realise that Arriva are a business and not a public service? They can afford to invest in the profitable routes such as this one, they don’t make any money on the routes that they’ve cut and Wrexham council is not funding them to a level that makes it worth their while.

If we want a public service then the government needs to nationalise the buses, or heavily subsidise less profitable routes. Until then, it’s a capitalist society and the buses will follow the money. Get real people.

Another good option for the people of Gresford / Marford / Rossett etc to get into town for their shopping 👍
There seems to be a grand plan to increase the population as part of a magic-bullet solution to revitalise the town. Which seems fanciful.

I’m not sure if people realize, but the location where the houses are proposed also has superb access to Chester. Ask yourself, would these people prefer to shop in Chester, a vibrant picturesque city with a rich history. Or Wrexham, a decaying market town full of drunks and drug addicts? It’s not a difficult choice.

I suppose good public transport could encourage these new people into the town, but anyone who’s familiar with the local ARRIVA bus service knows that this is unlikely.

More people will mean better healthcare facilities and probably a bigger, better school. As for transport, this may be a catalyst for the much vaunted North Wales Metro underground system.

Why is it bad news? I don’t understand. Surely, this is good for the local economy and in line with the local development plan to increase the amount of housing in the area? We need more good quality housing to support the growing population and, with it, should come improved infrastructure, schools, medical facilities, etc. Plus more money being spent in the local economy – Wrexham town centre for example. Plus I think the increased traffic is always overstated as an excuse anyway.

Why are people suggesting the road be narrowed? That would cause more congestion on an already busy road. Better to WIDEN it, making it a dual carriageway on both sides, like the Wrexham Bypass, surely?

Even for married couples this is a very unfair allowance. A couple where one person earns £45k and the spouse stays at home to look after their children gets nothing. Meanwhile their neighbours who both work and earn £44k each, leaving their kids in childcare, get the allowance! “Go figure” as they say across the Pond.

Will that always be the case though or it just happens to be on Easter Monday next year?
Increased bobbies on the beat…..would help but we would have to absorb the cost in our council tax. So would the people of Wrexham want to pay for it is the question.

I think we need to get tougher and raise the penalties but not forget that these people need help. But…the question is do they want help and if so what help? The explosion of legal highs is frightening but apart from the laws relating to anti social behaviour how else can the police crackdown. Make them illegal but then in turn become unregulated? It’s a difficult one.
Ultimately the help they need is to tackle the source of the reason they take drugs on a daily basis in the first place. They need a home and employment. No easy solutions to those problems of course.
