Not sure what your point is TBH

If an area is to have a prosperous future, a thriving economy is critical. While the people are the nucleus of the area and the community, the economy is the activity that generates money and pays for everything people need and can do.

Business and industry has declined in Wrexham, and compared to what other areas offer, Wrexham is becoming unattractive. This leads to less activity, less money, less attractive a place for people to live, and over time those who have the option, may choose to go elsewhere.

The last ten years in particular has seen an unprecedented way in how the country’s economy operates, especially social choices through social media. If Wrexham wants to be a thriving economy and community of the future, it has to change its outlook.

This starts by someone saying this is what we want to be, this is how we must change, this is what we can become. WCBC has the machinery to do this, and rather than talking about cuts all the time, we should say this is how much money we have, these are the choices we have in all, and this is what we want to achieve by spending this money.

This is not about ‘knocking’, this is about giving our kids the best start in life, and about looking after our parents as they get older.

Every year that a child wastes in their education, disadvantages them considerably in work. Our parents have paid for the infrastructure and community that we have in Wrexham today, we have a duty to look after it for them to enjoy without worry.

WCBC is reacting, not setting out and funding 15 to 20 years best education for children, and not getting to grips with say 40 years of quality retirement.

The world has changed, and as a community we need clear social and economic plans looking forward decades, and looking after what we have from the past as a part of our plans for the future. At present, we do not have this.

40 years of quality retirement? I’ll be 106! Thanks in advance kids – can’t wait. 55% of Council spending already goes on Education and adult social services. Not sure if that is a lot or not.

How come Wrexham Council spends money that benefits the profits of private business when services are being cut.
    1. Car park signs — yes the Council will say they had a grant but the reality is that they are sign posting drivers to private car parks such as Eagles Meadow at a time when they have increased the price of parking in their own car parks. Can anyone please explain the logic?
    2. Bus station – yes local people benefit but it is the private bus operators who use the Bus Station that benefit the most. Other businesses that sell services have to pay rent and rates yet this doesn’t occur for the bus operators!
    3. Electronic Bus signs — massive investment but ceased to operate within 18 months.
    4. Why pay for all Council Members to attend an Executive meeting when they have no chance of changing any proposals. Waste of time having 30 plus Councilors in a room with no one listening to them!!
    5. What is the point of having rows of highly paid officials at an Executive meeting listening and not participating- there are usually 20 present on an average of £25 an hour for 3 hours– £1500 of wasted time when they should be doing proper work! At all the Scrutiny meetings as well and their is probably about £2500 a week over £1 million a year for people to sit doing nothing.

Come on decision makers of Wrexham start looking closely at how you work if you want to see some cost savings.

I think you will find that bus operators pay to use the bus station…they pay a set amount every time one of their buses use the bus station so they do pay ‘rent’.

Thanks for your comment re Bus Station — if the operators do pay- is it a realistic commercial income to the Council as it does not seem to appear as a budget line in their accounts.
My understanding is that they pay a bus operators licence and that is it rather than a per use fee.
The fact that all buses leaving after 6.00pm and Sunday are subsidized also shows that any income on one hand is given back out again so there are no operational profits hence the assertion that the facility costs all ratepayers money.

The council knew before they started fitting those panels that the roofs were shot, all the houses that had panels fitted were surveyed several years previous, they would have to be assessed to see if they could take the additional load on the roof
i worked on the solar installs and i still have some paper work that gives the dates when the properties were assessed and its a full report, so they knew from day one the state of the properties, its just incompetance again by the council more waste, and thats why public services are being cut because the people behind these schemes have not got a clue what they are doing, they just rush in feet first as per usual.

Re Buses….I do not know how much the bus companies pay per departure, but it certainly is not a large amount. That however must be balanced by the many hundred departures a day from the bus station and the amount raised would not be inconsiderate. I accept that all the evening and Sunday departures are subsidised, but lets face it, without subsidy many services (not only evening and Sunday ones) would not run at all.

My house was never assessed  Didn’t even give a start date for work, came home one day to find scaffolding being erected.

To answer one of the earlier questions, no I am not saving whatever absurd amount the council claimed. Infact, I am putting more in

Is that because it is all going to the Council?
