Given Councillor Rogers commitment to a town centre police station plus the fact of the Groves site being so available, would it not be possible for some ingenious solution to be constructed by Wrexham Council, the North Wales Police, Yale College and Glyndwr.

Most major FE colleges nowadays offer courses on the public services and both the Metropolitan College in the Wirral and Yale have some sort of offer. The North Wales Police have a major training arm and training in, for example, Forensics, Officer training and others are a regular requirement of the police. Glyndwr offer MBA courses and many of these are linked to public sector requirements.

Is there no possibility that some sort of hybrid facility be constructed within the Groves site that is part Police Station part Educational establishment.

    Just a thought!

North Wales Police increased their precept on council tax by more than the rate of inflation and way more than the council increased its charge, so they are going to have to spend the money somehow. Can’t all go on pay and pensions!!

The station has reached the end of its life and it is far more cost effective to build a new one. A building like that will cost far too much to keep safe and has surely only got a few years left in it. A new one would have a much longer shelf life and be much more cost effective in the long run. As for the money, it will be coming from the Police buildings budget and if it is not spent on a new building here in Wxm, then it will be spent somewhere else in North Wales (not Wxm). Don’t worry about the falcons, the only thing they protect the building from are the pidgeons!
I like Alunh idea, but don’t forget that as well as the main police station for Wxm, it is also meant to be the HQ for WxM and Flintshire (i think) so perhaps it should be in Mold!

I hope that the jobs will be kept in Wrexham, we are leeching jobs out of the town in several ways already.

A good location for a new build would be where the old Brother site was demolished up by the hospital- close to the town and bypass for quick response times.

The rumour was that there was going to be a combined ambulance and fire station there.

It was also ear marked for a park and ride at one point.

Maybe a joint emergency services centre would be useful, or would that create too much of a traffic problem?
