Does anyone know why there are Pedestrian only signs on roads into the town centre? There’s one in Henblas street but traffic needs to go up there and into Hope street. Just wondering what’s the reason for the signs.

    Town centre is pedestrianised.

Granted there are a bazillion exceptions on some streets which makes it so confusing that lots of people ignore it and nobody enforces it.

Just like Duke street, it’s signed only accessible for taxis and buses but no one takes any notice.

For many disabled people it’s vital they can park outside certain shops especially If they have walking problems. Granted there always has to be certain times to be able to do that. But they
should at least have the right to park in town at certain times. From what I’ve seen the signs simply say “Pedestrians only”

Rondetto, wrong on so many counts!
    a) Henblas St from Chester St has been no entry like since……. forever.
    b) Henblas St has been one way from by the sports shop as long as I can remember.
    c) The ‘Pedestrians only’ sign I think you refer to is a temporary one on an adjacent street (Lambpit St) probably placed there because of the Monday market.

As far as disabled access/ parking is concerned, they do have the right to park at certain times but that facility is abused beyond measure.

Not entirely sure what the whole point of your post is.
