JanWParticipantI wonder if the change of Health Minister will make a difference. Or will Professor Mark Drakeford just endorse the changes that Betsi have already started.

JanWParticipantThe lid has been nailed on the coffin for our neonatal service. They will be moving to Arrowe Park. I wish good luck to any families who may need these services in the future.

Welsh DresserParticipantA couple of disturbing stories from the Daily Post.
I think I will try my best to stay healthy if this is an indication of the state of the NHS in Wales.

Welsh DresserParticipantCarwyn Jones has announced yet another review of the neo-natal services move to Arrowe Park. Once the service and staff have gone it will be harder to reinstate the service. Lets hope it’s not too little too late.

wxmParticipantThis weeks revelations of the CARE QUALITY COMMISSION must surely put the Maelor Hospital squarely on the public agenda in Wrexham, along with other health provision whether Bodelwyddan, Arrowe Park, Walton, Christie’s, GP services out of hours, and others.
I’m sure we’re all very grateful for the extraordinary service that the Maelor gives all our families from time to time, but the perodic closures of wards due to disease spread, pressures in A&E, are surely cause to ask if the Maelor is effectively measured through CQC and/or Welsh Government, how it is performing, and if it operating at the top of its class for the forseeable future.

wxmParticipantThe announcement that a ‘damning report into the management of the North Wales Health Authority, that has led to two top-level resignations’ must be a “call to action” in public, especially after the public debates, and reported patient experiences.
The two central town schools in ‘special measures’ and an audit report condemning the Health Authority; are things that go wrong over a long period of time, and take even longer to put right. In the meantime, these are the conditions people have to live with, and the disadvantage in quality of life to some will never be regained.
It would be good to hear the view of the consultants (i.e. medical & surgical) and senior medically qualified staff, about what the next steps should be.

AlunhParticipantThis whole area of schools and hospitals is so problematic in Wales (and elsewhere). We want these services to provide us with the very best in Health delivery and Education delivery but once we get past the headline aspiration, the whole edifice of agreement falls apart amid political argument.
What can surely unite all the competing ‘visionaries’ of the optimal way forward is that there are certain brass tacks things that have to underpin what we do. Neglect of patients or chaotic classrooms cannot be accepted in whatever system that emerges and perhaps it is time to work backwards from what we want to the best way to get it.

It’s a long report and I have only scanned it. If you have the time or interest take a look. It seems to put the blame on the shoulders of the Board.

wrexviewParticipantBBC News – Doctors 'lose confidence' in Betsi Cadwaladr Health Board
More disturbing revelations about Betsi Cadwaladr. Worrying that they are trying to prevent consultants speaking out rather than addressing the problems.
