wrexviewParticipantBBC News – Welsh NHS has 'nothing to hide', says health minister
Mark Drakeford doesn’t think there are any problems but does state there will be an extra £425 million spent on the NHS Wales over the next two year, but no mention on how the money will be spent. Hopfully some will go to pay for extra staff in A&E to relieve the pressure on ambulance waiting times.

A and E don’t need extra staff they need someone with balls to tell the di*kheads and time wasters to go home and sort themselves out. They should also have a one friend/family member rule too. Why on earth someone with a small injury needs a mum,dad and a couple of siblings with them is beyond me!!

wrexviewParticipantSuch people would be seen in Minors while those waiting in ambulances are normally people who are seen in Majors. Lack of available beds also leaves people in A&E longer than is necessary for the efficient use of A&E.

99DylanJonesParticipantThe backlog of beds particularly for older people is partly due to the Council not having a speedy enough system to put care packages in place meaning someone stays occupying a hospital bed rather than going home.
This is likely to increase as Council budgets are cut– whist there is a disjoint between health and social care funding it is unlikely to improve.October 27, 2014 at 9:35 am #69993
johnhoppyParticipantThe problem with A&E is that out of hours we have no way of getting medical attention from our GP’s. Often it is not possible to get medical attention from our GP’s under normal circumstances, and there is nowhere else to go. Is it even possible to get a house call these days? A&E is not designed or intended for the way it is being used at the moment.

wrexviewParticipantThey have recently taken up some rooms in Care Homes which are used for Respite Care for the elderly who go to A&E and although needing care , do not quality for an acute hospital bed. Not sure if the NHS or Council pay for this, but it is another useful option for some cases.

wrexviewParticipantFull NHS cost implications of Wrexham 'super prison' won't be known for seven months – Daily Post
It is vital that Wrexham Council ensure ,at the planning stage, that the new prison is designed with good medical facilities that are well staffed. The addition of over 2,000 people ,many of whom will have complex medical problems, will impact on the health provision locally. Our local hospital and ambulance provision are already under severe strain before we add in this extra pressure. It is hard to believe and very worrying that the cost implications on the Local Health Board and Social Services have not already been quantified.
