Labour’s NHS shame exposed: Mail investigation reveals meltdown in Labour-run Welsh NHS with police probing allegations of horrifying neglect* | Daily Mail Online

Daily Mail Investigation !! Everyone in Wales knows there are major problems with the way the NHS is run in Wales . Every AM is aware of the situation but they still seem incapable of even producing a plan of action.

The allegations regarding Glan Clwyd are shocking and there have been longstanding concerns regarding the Betsi Cadwaladr Health Board. That said I’m concerned that the Welsh NHS is being used as a political football. There have been well publicised scandals involving the NHS in England also. It seems political parties would rather row amongst themselves than look at the root causes.

Your right of course Liam to worry about any allegations of anything untoward in the NHS.However I do believe that any link coming from the Daily Mail should carry with it a huge health warning!Any concerns about the NHS to them are secondary to their own agenda. You are also right to hignlight the root causes of problems within the NHS,which are inevitably those of funding and accountability.

Agreed: re the Daily Mail, but their article is putting the meat on the bones of what has been reported locally about the closure of Glan Clwyd’s mental health ward since last December. I could be prejudging, but I don’t think the health board would shut such an important unit if there was no basis to the allegations at all.

I totally agree about the Daily Mail and the fact it is a politically driven piece but any publicity about the poor management of the Welsh NHS hopefully will put pressure on those in Government to get their act together and sort out a solution!

Deadly 999 shambles: Heartbreaking stories that reveal when you call for an ambulance in Wales – where Labour runs the NHS – you are taking a life-or-death gamble | Daily Mail Online

This article brings home the real impact of ambulances waiting outside A&E by telling the experience of individual people. Do our politicians care? It would appear they don’t as they have done nothing to improve the situation let alone solve it!

It has been revealed that BCUHB spent half a million pounds on employing staff who do not do the job they were employed for, but work as Union reps. The hospital then has to employ another person to cover their duties. Unions should pay for their own reps. There is a 52 week wait for the pain clinic. It took over 8 months for an appointment to see an orthopaedic consultant and public money is wasted like this. Welsh Govt has been an epic fail

“Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board alone spent over £500,000, this year blowing £184,231 on 2 full-time taxpayer funded trade union staff and 21-part time staff . ” Quoted from the Guy Fawkes Blog.

What do the two full time trade union staff do to justify a salary of over £92,000 per year and why do they require 21 part time staff?

It doesn’t actually say that, does it?
Another example of someone twisting words to read the way they want it to read, not as it actually does.
Besides, as has been stated on this forum in the past, employers have a legal obligation to make provision for Trade Union representation from within its’ workforce and fund their salaries.
I would not have thought, bearing in mind the size of the workforce and the variety of trades and occupations within the BCUHB, that the figure of £184K for ALL the Union representatives is unreasonable.
Yet again, it smacks of politicians attempting to gain political capital prior to next years’ elections.
And unfortunately, some people are too gullible and haven’t the intellectual capacity to sort the wheat from the chaff.

The last quotations are from the “Guy Fawkes Blog”.Whilst of course there are indeed problems within the Welsh NHS,GFB is hardly an independent think tank!

Lets just say that the Daily Mail and GFB have their own agenda which I have to say does not have the interests of the NHS anywhere at heart!
