Wrexham’s Parks A Hit In Recent Heatwave
Wrexham’s parks proved popular over the half term break with the scorching weather bringing visitors to take advantage of the events that were put on by Park Rangers.
A variety of events took place which encouraged people to get involved in their local Parks. The children made Animal Puppets at Alyn Waters and watched the Sheep Shearing and got involved with Woolly Wonders at Ty Mawr. There was Tennis Coaching sessions at Bellevue and making Bug Hotels at Nant Mill.
Alyn Waters hosted a Race for Life event at the Llay side of Alyn Waters with some 2,500 runners participating. Well done to all that took part.
Ty Mawr benefitted from a “Give and Gain” day which was organised through Business in the Community Cymru. 30 members of staff from A.F.Blakemore (SPAR) gave up a day to work as volunteers at Ty Mawr. The two teams helped put in two new path ramps to ease access to the river, and painted the animal houses and wooden cages. £250 was also donated by A. F. Blakemore towards materials for the day. All the staff at Ty Mawr were very grateful for this work from the volunteers.
Staff are now planning the activities to take place over the summer holidays for visitors to get involved with. Already planned is an Orchid Walk at Alyn Waters Country Park on the 22nd June, A Tree Walk at Bellevue on the 23rd June, Live Music in the Park at Bellevue on the 24th June and a Fun Dog Show at Ty Mawr Country Park on the 25th June.
