A Facebook comment about roadworks in the town has sparked debate on the Wrexham Council page, generating 856 ‘likes’ and over 140 responses from other Facebook users at the time of writing.

The comment, from Darren Jones targeted the traffic and the level of roadworks that are taking place in the town at the same time:

“Seriously, I thought you would have learnt by now that Wrexham IS a small town and just ONE set of roadworks in the town centre area causes enough traffic as it is. But from what I’ve seen so far there are at least 5 different sets of roadworks within a 3 to 4 mile radius, some roads are closed, some traffic lighted, some with lanes closed. It is RIDICULOUS!! Do any of you idiots even DRIVE through Wrexham or live in the town?! I doubt it as you wouldn’t be so disorganised all year with the roadwork plans”.

Darren Jones said: “I was surprised at how many likes and comments it would get, didn’t think it would escalate that much, but at the same time, hoped it did”.

“That’s the reason I used Facebook for it; knowing how things can spread on Facebook so easily. It would be nice if the council acknowledge it and finally changed how they planned for such things and asked the public’s opinions well in advance so they don’t make such pathetic errors”.

There are currently a number of road works taking place in areas in and around Wrexham, causing traffic issues for commuters.
