Work on Wrexham’s new multi-million pound arts and market space has taken a further step forward today with painting on the exterior of the building now underway.

Those walking through town yesterday afternoon would have noticed that one of the first exterior changes to Tŷ Pawb / the former Peoples Market building.

There had been a ‘sample pallet’ on the Market Street side of the building, however it seems to black featured in the initial artist impressions has been carried through.

Work converting the Peoples Market has been ongoing for several months, with the building undergoing a complete transformation

A combined total of £4.5 million – £2.3 million from Arts Council Wales, £1.5 million from Wrexham Council and £700,000 funding has been made available from the Welsh Government’s Vibrant and Viable Places Programme – has been spent redeveloping the former Peoples Market, with the project set to be complete by April 2017.

Work on the new facility is due to be completed over the next few months, with an official launch event for the grand opening scheduled for April 2nd 2018.

Last week Wrexham.com reported that the team behind FOCUS Wales had been awarded the contract to carry out phase two of the launch.

In August Wrexham.com took a tour around the new facility – a video of how work was progressing back then, can be found below:
