This afternoon we took a quick look inside the building site that was the People’s Market as it is being converted to the yet unnamed ‘arts hub’, plus market element.

Last week the project was described as being ‘on budget and on time’ with construction firm Wynne described as ‘cracking on’.

The centre will have a new name shortly with polling closed to decide if Cartref, Oriel M or Tŷ Pawb will win the day for the new multi million pound investment in Wrexham town centre.

The planning story has been much documented, with £700k and then £500k of Vibrant and Viable Places funding from Welsh Government, the Arts Council Wales contributing £2.3 million and Wrexham Council contributing £1.5million for the build.

Below is our view from inside the building site today, which to us seems a remarkably large and light space compared to the previous iteration of the building!

There are two further historic videos below, the first being from Wrexham Council of an animated fly through of how things could well look once the build has been completed.

The second video is one Wrexham.com created back in January when the People’s Market closed its doors for the very final time.
