A crowdfunding effort by friends of Harri Jones, who was seriously injured while on holiday in Kavos, has gone over the £12,000 mark.

The donation page was set up on Thursday and within an hour had reached nearly £1.5k, and £9k within a day.

The latest update includes information on Harri’s condition, and reads, “The bleed is not as bad as initially thought so the doctors will begin to wake Harri on Monday”.

Shane Tarpey, who started the CrowdFunder, added “There is a lot going on behind the scenes to set up some fundraising events to push the total as far as possible because we don’t know how much they are going to need.

“Just so everyone that doesn’t know, Harri was insured but because it was a Quad bike accident they won’t cover any of the bills. Thank you all so much for your support it’s been incredible so far, lets carry on and help Harri home!”

Earlier Harri’s parents had said: “We are both touched and humbled by this support shown for Harri . It shows what truly amazing friends and family he has. We promise we will make sure he knows how much he is loved by everyone. Thank you all”
