Autistic Author From Wrexham Shares His Life Experiences At Library Q&A Session
A local author will be raising awareness and talking about his life with autism at free question and answer session next month.
On Thursday 1st September Andrew Edwards will be hosting a free Question and Answer session regarding his memoirs, ‘I’ve Got a Stat for You, My life with Autism’ at Gresford Library.
At the age of four, Andrew Edwards was diagnosed with autism. “Go home and watch Rain Man,” the specialist told his mother. “In all probability your son will be institutionalised.”
Determined to prove the specialist wrong, Andrew’s mother, Hazel, set out to give her son the best life possible.
“I’ve Got a Stat For You” is an honest and compelling account of one young man’s journey to manage his autism and achieve his goals.
Raised in a single parent household and encountering bureaucracy, bullying, and a lack of understanding from many around him, Andrew emerged from a turbulent childhood to win a Welsh National Young Volunteer Award, give speeches on his condition, and secure his dream job as a statistician at Manchester United Television.
If you have relatives with autism or would just be interested in hearing about how with the right level of determination, a positive outlook, and the will to succeed, you can overcome all odds then this will be a very interesting and enjoyable evening for you.
Local resident and autism campaigner, Andrew Atkinson will host the evening and start off with a few set questions for Mr Edwards who will then take questions from the audience.
If you would like to attend please email Andrew Atkinson on [email protected] or call 07914211631.
The event will take place at Gresford Library on Thursday 1st September at 7pm.
