12 appliances still at Llangollen fires – Horseshoe Pass remains closed
North Wales Fire and Rescue service have issued an update from Llangollen this morning.
They said: “We still have 12 fire appliances at the Llangollen fire and smoke has now drifted further afield.”
“Please only call us if you see the source of fire or flames – as you could be seeing or smelling smoke from Llantysilio.”
“The Horseshoe Pass remains closed – and we ask that people continue to please stay away from the area for your own safety.”
“Thank you for your continued cooperation.”
Few people commenting on a strong burning smell in parts of Deeside this morning – given wind direction/speed etc probably safe to assume it relates to the large wildfires on Llantysilio Mountain and the Horseshoe Pass. pic.twitter.com/yE2S3nhBaJ

Yesterday the pass was closed off, and there is currently no information as to when it will reopen.
The latest update from Simon at the Ponderosa Cafe at the top of the pass reads: “The main road is still closed in both directions and the police have put road blocks in place to try to ensure people stay away from the fire. The smoke is very thick and acrid the fire is still active however the firemen are pushing it back in areas. Please can people avoid the area it is dangerous.”
Various collections were held to gather food and drink for the teams fighting the fires, however yesterday a message was sent that currently there are enough resources and to pause collections.
