Police have said the A542 Horseshoe Pass by Llangollen is being closed today due to the nearby fires.

North Wales Police said: “Please avoid the area. People taking photographs have been causing problems for fire crews.

“Keep away for your safety and take alternative route.”

In the latest update late last night the North Wales Fire & Rescue Service said: “We now have 13 appliances, including special off road vehicles, fire fighting across Llantysilio Mountain just north of Llangollen.

“Control Room busy with duplicate calls from callers able to see smoke from distance. Crews will be working and monitoring throughout the night.”
