Can one of the Council Member readers of these threads confirm that Lee Robinson Strategic Director has now been appointed as interim Chief Executive?
If so does this mean Clair Field the other Strategic Director is now in the frame or is about to leave Wrexham as she had taken over the role as the interim after the last Chief Executive left?Are we moving towards an internal appointment!
This does not seem right that residents are having cuts at a time when it looks like the Council staff are being protected. Does anyone know what the policy change was going to be that could have generated all the savings?
How did they find the mistake — was it a Council ‘Clerk of Works’ or the contractors owns inspection system that dug up a piece of the pavement?
I cant see how the previous work that took weeks to be done will now only take a week — surely the contractor will have to dig them down not only to the cable level but deeper– something not stacking up with this information.Whi will now be responsible for the work after the trenches have settled and the pavement needs reinstating again- Virgin or the contractor or Wrexham ratepayers because the Council cannot have a full contract in place to cover reinstatement and remedial works.
If the numbers on some courses are low or no uptake then you cant expect the University to keep staff. All Universities will from time to time refresh the types of courses they run- businesses and potential employers needs will change and so the training has to be different.
Should we not be celebrating the good news fully.
I would feel sorry for anyone that loses a job but should we get all businesses that are reducing their staff for whatever reason to make sure they always get public approval through the media. This is an internal matter for the management and staff of Glyndwr (or any business) to deal with.
The question to ask the Executive Biard Councillors is how many of them would actually take on the role as Director/Trustee of the Hub if a Charitable Company would be established now.
No matter what charitable status was used to establish this as a Community entity there is no protection for the Directors/Trustees if they were knowingly trading without the financial means to pay their way. In other words, the Hub was insolvent — each Director, once they reach that point, would personally be liable and be putting their own homes at risk.
The only way they could continue would be with an open cheque from the Council and the Bank having a form of security to cover the risk.

The sourcing of external funding by an organization managing the HUb has now been kicked into touch for at least three years as they have not legally been able to establish the new community entity as originally proposed.Haven’t most of the traders now relocated and indicated that they don’t wish to move back. Have the Coucnu got a 100% occupancy planned for the opening — I know someone who has told the Council they are interested in a unit but they have received no details other than “We will let you have details when available”.
The car parking income originally proposed in the budget is now no more than a pipe dream as the prices have fallen so much.
I wish there was some positive news on this as issue but it really does seem a doomed millstone for the ratepayers of Wrexham,
Was Cllr Terry Evans implying that there air pollutant levels from within the Chirk area? Depending on the atmosphere and wind direction you can smell and often taste chocolate or wood in the air miles away from the area. Does he know what the levels may be in the Chirk area? Probably zero but what about 5 miles away?
Surely the location of the monitoring points is the most crucial as you can create a good clean reading in any county by selecting a fresh air location to put the monitor up.
In the case of any pollutant from a factory monitoring on site will nearly always show little evidence of an issue as the prevailing winds will always take pollutants away. If you look at the data for Chirk the prevailing winds up the Dee Valley will take pollution towards Penycae as that is the first “high” point on which pollutant will land.
Cllr Joan Lowe is Councillor for Penycae and Lead Member for Health and Social Care — surely she should be able to give some assurance to residents that Penycae is clear from Kronospan polution (if there is any).
Cllr Rogers on his Tweet looks like he is now trying to blame youngsters from other areas for coming to Brymbo — wow Paul do you not realise that most of these young people ALL actually go to the same school as in case you haven’t noticed Brymbo does not have it’s own Secondary School.
Are you proposing that all young people will need to have a passport to enter the sacred space called Brymbo or are you implying that the trouble was not caused by the youngsters of the parents that voted you in as Councillor.
I accept young people shouldn’t expect to have everything handed to them on a plate and that they should be able to find things to occupy their time – I’m sure however that most writers on these Wrexham.com threads when they were growing up went to at least one youth club.
If the same number of youngsters were congregating in the Caia Park area would the Police have dealt with the incident by staying around for two hours? Or may be there would not have been an ‘incident’ reported in the first place as tolerance level may be different between the two communities.
Four young people on a street corner in some part of Wrexham would be seen as good the YP are getting out and socialising in other parts of the town four YP would be seen as anti social. Make your own mind up about how you personally define anti social behaviour.
