cmaj76ParticipantAlso before berating the immigrant worker, put yourself in their position.
You live in comparatively poor eastern European country, local work is scarce and poorly paid. In addition there is very little in the way of a welfare system. You want to provide a better quality of life for you and your loved ones and you get a chance to earn reasonable wages in another country. I would say that most people in that situation would take this chance with both hands.
Then put yourself in the position of an employer in this country, you have an immigrant worker who is positively motivated, who knows that their family back home are relying on them and that they effectively have nothing to fall back on.
Whereas your uk employee knows there is a welfare system to back them up should they lose their job due to whatever reason. Then you have the section of the uk community who are more than happy to sit on their backsides and sponge off the tax payer.
Who would you rather employ, someone who is well motivated or someone who is not?

thewayneinspainParticipantIf 20 of you got together tomorrow, got organised, you could quite easily be touting for business, if not actually working by the following monday, whilst all still looking for work hours every day.
On tuesday you could looking for an office, perhaps glyndwr or some other non-profit org could help as they see it as a good pr story…
And if glyndwr got involved, they would sort out free publicity in the papers, if not free accountancy & grant advice too.
And if you get free publicity on what is a good news story, other business will offer you work for free publicity in the papers too!
And of course you won0t need to register with the authorities until you start trading.
it’s worth doing for a fortnight, just to see if it works.

wxmParticipantTetra Pak are going? Sharp was going, now its staying? Is Wrexham producing the right environment for industry, and encouraging business in, and encouraging them to stay. We will end up like the big banking bang, waking up one morning, to find all is gone. If the shops and town are closing, what are we doing about it, bring back Sydney Tongue?

wrexviewParticipantBack in September last year there was talk of problems in the Solar Power Section. Looks like they have been cutting back on permanent workers as about 250 redundancies, although Ian Lucas indicates in the region of 650 to go including agency staff !

sparky1ParticipantI think it’s about time this government started to pass a bill so that all new homes built had solar panels fitted as standard then it just might stop the power company’s making more and more money and maybe stop closures of plants like sharps

wxmParticipantWhen a community is in difficult times, it looks for leadership. Wrexham compared to many communities has a number of declining prospects compared to where prospects use to be, and other areas are steaming ahead. WCBC is the only strong lead that the community has, and with the money and influence it uses, it has a big say in which direction jobs and peoples lives travel. While SHARP is a consequence of the market place, this must be used as another example to hasten the change of Wrexham if it is to effectively provide for the community of tomorrow.

MetalheadParticipantWhen the government twigged that they could not afford to continue paying those initial rebates and subsequently slashed them (making them a far less attractive proposition) the solar panel business fell off a cliff in the UK. Can’t help thinking this incentive scheme could and should have been thought through a little better. Feel so sorry for those losing their jobs at Sharps, not a very nice Christmas present. Could they not have waited until the new year to spring this news?
