…and another thing, if anyone suggests expanding privatisation as a cure, forget it. Some may point at nations across the world where it works well(ish), but do not think for a minute that any such system will work here in the UK.

We have a track record recently of being able to shaft each other over, just to look after our own interests.

Privatisation here will make the (old) U.S. system look fair in comparison.

Triage needs to be changed and perhaps they are not doing their job properly. If someone goes in with a minor cut that doesn’t even need a stitch, surely they should be sent home with the instructions to put a plaster on and take suitable painkillers if necessary. Why are they being asked to wait for hours on end for the same treatment?

Some conditions can appear with very simple symptoms but can be more severe. When I took my son in in 2013, he was fast asleep on the seats. Many thought and commented that he was just tired. In fact, it was his fever that had put him off to sleep, but he was still left for 5 hours for coughs and colds and tummy ache. He was in fact quite poorly and as admitted to hospital. He was dehydrated and had scarlet fever.

Triage should be assessing people and sending away those who don’t need to be there. I actually thought this was what they were SUPPOSED to do anyway, but it appears not.

Are you implying Triage are not doing their job correctly, or is it that the Triage rules need to be changed ?

Maybe our local AM’s Lesley Griffiths and Aled Roberts could find out what the plans are for relieving the pressure on A&E at the Maelor Hospital. Am I right is assuming that SOMETHING will be done now we are making national headlines? News at Ten last night and Radio 4 this morning. No mention on Radio Wales News today but that is no surprise.

Have you forgot about Ken Skates?

So we now know there has been a 15% cut in the number of beds in the Besti Cadwaladr Health Authority area and yet they still will not admit this has had a negative influence on the waiting times in A&E. When something has run smoothly for a number of years and then faces a catastrophic crisis, the first thing to look at is what has changed. In this case it is less beds and a higher population. Some beds have been lost due to hospital closures but is there any spare capacity within the Maelor Hospital that could be opened up? Who can answer that question ?
