Braving the wind and rain in early May, 18 teams of four players took to the Hawarden Golf Course to raise money for their chosen Charity, Nightingale House Hospice.

Organised by EADS, each team was responsible for raising sponsorship and auctions were held on the day. The total amount presented to Nightingale House was £2870.

Nigel Whiteley, Group HR Operations, EADS Personnel Services, said “As EADS personnel services our aim as a service provider is always to try and make a difference by going the extra mile and so, in supporting our chosen charity, Nightingale House Hospice, our aim is to try and make a meaningful contribution towards the funds they require to enable them to make a difference for those who need it most. The inaugural running of this EPS Annual Golf Challenge will, I’m certain, be the springboard for not only continuation of this yearly extravaganza but will initiate a number of related ‘spin offs’ aimed at increasing our charitable contributions.”

Catherine Byrne, Corporate Fundraiser for Nightingale House said “We would like to thank all the employees at EADS for their continued support, for going the extra mile and organising such a successful event. The money raised helps the Hospice to continue providing the high level of patient care it has become known for.”

After playing 18 holes, the winning team, with 94 points was Paul McKinley, Mark Stewart, Mike Pickford and Nigel Harvey.

Other winners were:
Nearest Pin – 2nd Hole– Dan Price
Nearest Pin – 11th Hole– Wayne Kendrick
Nearest Pin in 2 Hole– 15th – Andy Murphy
Longest Drive – 7th Hole – Danny Marshall
Longest Drive – 17th Hole – Daniel Reid
