Details: Dance music collaboration, Strictly Vinyl, is holding its first vinyl only dance music night out at one of Wrexham’s biggest night clubs, Central Station. The night, which is also raising money for Nightingale Hospice, starts from 10pm until 4am and features seven DJs playing dance music played exclusively on Vinyl records.

Speaking ahead of the event, Mark Gaffney, founder of Strictly Vinyl said: “the art of mixing has been lost, particularly on up and coming DJs. Much of the dance music now played in clubs is pre-mixed and played on a laptop during the night.”

Strictly Vinyl’s night will bring vinyl mixing out from the underground, from where its been growing, to the main stage to provide a real spectacle and value for money for clubbers.”
The night also hopes to raise money for local charity Nightingale Hospice. The night also hopes to raise money for local charity Nightingale Hospice. Tickets for Strictly Vinyl’s opening night are priced at £3, with £1 from each ticket going to local charity Nightingale House Hospice.

Mark Gaffney added: “the hospice is close to one of our DJ’s heart, so we want to raise awareness and support the work that they do.”

As well as appreciating good dance music, clubbers also have a conscience and we’re hoping to raise as much as we can for the charity” said Gaffney.

Popularity for vinyl records is on the rise with total vinyl record sales worth an estimated £21m in 2014. Figures from the International Federation of the Phonographic Industry (IFPI) also reveal that UK record sales have grown by more than 60% in the last year.

Vinyl records quickly declined with the introduction of CDs and in recent times from streaming. However the format has enjoyed a resurgence, particularly in Wrexham, where die-hard DJs are turning away from CD and laptop mixing back to the turn-table.

As an exclusive for Strictly Vinyl’s opening night, Curved Pressings have announced that they will be creating a short-run record pressing of the night’s music. Available six weeks after the 8th May, Curved Pressings’ owner Shane Whittaker said: “vinyl will always be part of the independent music business and I hope that Curved will stay part of [Strictly Vinyl] for as long as its around.”
