Earlier this month Wrexham Swimming club travelled to Glasgow to the Tolcross International Swimming Centre to represent Wales in the first ever Tri-Nations Challenge to tie in with the Commonwealth Games Trials.

50 swimmers of all ages represented their Club and country at this exciting event in one of the UKs premier swimming facilities, where they took on strong teams from England and Scotland. The event consisted of unique events, including 6x50m Freestyle Relays and relays designated by a giant spinner

Even though Wales came 3rd , Wrexham Swimming team is a small town Club and were up against City of Derby and City of Glasgow representing their respective countries and they did their Club and Country proud.

The swimmers were captained by Double Olympic Medallist (and Welsh international) David Davies who was among many current and former International Swimmers. The team got to mingle with the likes of Stephen Parry and Double Olympic Gold Medallist Rebecca Adlington.

The swimmers had a long day leaving at 5am and arriving home at 1am the following morning but their professionalism and team spirit was excellent and saw them through!

Head Coach, Craig Prime said “I would like to congratulate the swimmers for their outstanding efforts and attitude throughout the event and for doing their country proud.

“The Team Staff/Chaperones were nothing but outstanding throughout the day and finally I would like to thank Macron Store Wrexham and Ball Packaging Europe for their support for this event”.
