People took various vantage points, with one person on the right climbing on top of a car to get a better shot.

We spoke with some of the people lining the route, and there was a mix of the hardcore cycling fans and local people who popped out to have a look at the special event.

The cyclists sped through very fast, with some surprised at the speed. Despite the ‘viewing time’ being rather low most seemed impressed by the event.

It appeared that every single police motorcycle was used to secure the route.

11:50 Just about to head out now, hope to see some of you out on the route!

11am One popular query this morning is ‘how do I spot Bradley Wiggins in Wrexham’ , well the answer is look for the bloke on a bike with a yellow jersey. He is currently leading thus gets that honour, and makes it dead handy for those watching to know where he is! He also has his famous massive sideburns, however due to the speed they go at we are unsure if that is a useful identification method!

10:25 The best suggestion so far has been tweeted to us:

10:15 Spotters Guide! Local bloke Rob Partridge is number 156 wearing a white and blue jersey! You can read more about his achievements on his Wikipedia entry here.

10:10 We have had a few people ask about weather still, and here is the rain radar image for the time the cyclists are due through town, so will be overcast but dry!

9:58: The rain has stopped for now. Will be a few more showers throughout the morning but all should be clear for when the Tour of Britain hits Wrexham.

7:59: Today the Tour of Britain will be passing through Wrexham during their route from Stoke-on-Trent to Llanberis.

We will be live blogging and tweeting the event this morning / afternoon, so keep an eye on Wrexham.com for updates on what’s going on and when the cyclists are en route! Feel free to tweet @wrexham with any pictures or information you have from the morning. Or if you prefer you can email them to [email protected].

In total there are 19 teams taking part in the race, and the cyclists will speed through Wrexham as part of Stage Four of the eight stage tour.

One of the main racers that fans are keen to see is cycling legend, Sir Bradley Wiggins. To make him easier to spot, he is part of the ‘Sky Pro-Cycling Squad’ and will be wearing the yellow jersey as he is leading! Another fan favourite is Mark Cavendish, who will be cycling as part of the Omega Pharma team. Keep an eye out for him in a white with blue / green sleeves.

The event will also see local lad Rob Partridge cycle through his home town. Rob will be cycling with UK Youth and will be wearing blue and white, with UK Youth written across the front.

It is estimated the cyclists will be entering Bangor-on-Dee at 12:32 before cycling to Marchwiel for 12:38. They will then pass through town at 12:44. Times are likely to vary, especially if the weather is bad, so best to arrive shortly before to make sure you don’t miss the chance to see them cycle past.
