North Wales Crusaders ‘Restructure’ As Takeover Deadline Looms

Directors of North Wales Crusaders last night met with players from the club to ask for further deep cuts in the playing budget.

The club say: “The squad is considering the proposition and will be deciding on their individual futures over the next few days.”

This move comes as part of a restructure of the club to bring its expenditure back in line with revenue, pay off historic debt, and to ‘create a more attractive proposition to potential investors’. The club itself was effectively put up for sale on the 25th of February – with the deadline of midday tomorrow for any investors to come forward.

Club chairman Ian Edwards said: “This is a tough call, particularly for our loyal players.

“However, we have had to reset our cost base to ensure a sustainable future for the club.

“With this new budget, we will be able to live within our resources and meet our obligations.

“It forms part of a major restructure at the club, which will bring all our fans and stakeholders together and help us build for the future.

“I would like to place on record our thanks to the coaches and players for their professional approach to what is a challenging situation”
