This weekend sees cricketers across North Wales take to the outfield (weather permitting!) to get the cricket season underway. With England as the world number one test team, many will be trying to emulate recent performances from the likes of James Anderson and Kevin Pietersen in the hope of getting their team off to a winning start.

Cricketing bodies are hopeful that success at the top level will encourage more players at a recreational and competitive level. However with people squeezed for time and money, recreational sport for many has taken a back seat.

Participation numbers are down not only in cricket, they are down in a number of sports. But in the year of the London Olympics what better time to get involved, especially if you are new to the area.  There are 8 Clubs in and around Wrexham (Bersham, Brymbo, Chirk, Gresford, Gwersyllt, Llangollen, Llay & Marchwiel) each with multiple teams including Adults & Juniors.
