Junior Clubs Prepare for 2014 Season

North Wales’ local junior Rugby League scene has never looked healthier ahead of the 2014 season, according to a leading community coach.

The Crusaders own new U15s squad are already back in training after their Christmas break and preparing for their first season playing in the English North West Counties League. The squad are still looking for a more players to complete their squad, any School Year 9 or 10 boys interested should contact Head Coach, Allen Jones on 07738 767272 or via [email protected]. The squad train twice weekly on a Saturday morning and Thursday evening and new players will be made most welcome.

The Wrexham Bradley Raiders are also back in training. The Raiders will run age groups at U8s, U10s, U12s and U18s. The U10s, U12s and U18s will all play in the North West Counties League in 2014. The Raiders are looking for new players at all age groups. The U10s train each Tuesday at 6.00pm in the Active8 Gym in Bradley and the U12s at the same venue from 7.00pm. The U18s train on a Sunday on Bradley Fields at 11.30am and the U8s will return to training soon. Flintshire Falcons RL, who are based at Deeside Leisure Centre, also run age groups at U8, U10, U12 and U18s. The U18s will play in the North West Counties League in 2014 whilst the younger age groups will play a number of friendly fixtures against other local clubs and North West Counties opposition. The younger age groups will begin training sessions on Saturday 1st February at 10.00am at Deeside Leisure Centres Rugby pitch. The U18s are already back in training each Monday evening at Deeside between 7.00pm and 9.00pm. Contact Head Coach Mark Parry on 07828 971361 or [email protected]

The Dee Valley Dragons club are based at the Dee Park in Corwen. The Dragons will have an open door policy to players at all ages, boys and girls, but will be looking to grow their younger sections in particularly. The club will also play a number of friendly fixtures through 2014. Training will begin in February. Contact Juniors Coach, Barry Jones, on 07889 255550 or [email protected]

Further afield, both Conway Celts, who will play out of Colwyn Bay RUFC and Prestatyn & Rhyl Panthers, who will play out of Rhyl RUFC will run junior sections in 2014. Look up the club websites for details on club contacts and training times.
