August Bank Holiday Weekend is just days away and many will be wondering if they can enjoy a BBQs and some sunshine…

Sadly in typical Bank Holiday fashion the forecast is looking a bit wet and dreary, with the Met Office issuing a yellow weather warning for Saturday and Sunday.

Current forecasts from the Met Office show that Saturday will remain dry and cloudy in Wrexham throughout much of the afternoon. However this is forecast to change in the afternoon, with the weather warning in place from 3pm on Saturday until 9am on Sunday.

Sunday is forecast to be the worst day of the weekend, with heavy rain set to continue throughout the day.

Details released by the Met Office state: “Outbreaks of rain will develop over central UK through the course of Saturday, and by the evening are likely to be heavy at times. This rain is likely to be prolonged over many areas overnight into Sunday morning, gradually becoming lighter and dying out later on Sunday.

“Please be aware of the risk of local disruption to transport and outdoor activities.”

There are also warnings that rainfall will be heavy at times, and locally prolonged. Rainfall totals are likely to be in the range of 20-40 mm, but 50-75 mm is possible in some areas.

Monday is set to be the nicest day of the Bank Holiday Weekend, with the Met Office forecasting a dry day with sunny spells. Temperatures are set to hit highs of 18C later on in the afternoon.

Of course weather forecasts can sometimes be incorrect, so fingers crossed for a last minute heat wave and the return of summer! However at the moment it’s looking more like wellies and brolly rather than BBQ and sun cream weather.
