Yellow weather warning for Bank Holiday Monday snow
The Met Office have issued weather warnings this lunchtime, with Wrexham being alerted to the possibility of snow on Monday.
The forecast as of today indicates a high chance of ‘heavy snow’ in the morning turning to ‘heavy rain’ in the early afternoon.
The formal warning makes relatively good reading, indicating if there is snow areas such as the town centre lower down could be fine: “As a weather system moves in from the south and comes up against cold air over the UK, there is the chance that rain could turn to heavy snow in places. Several cm of snow are possible, especially over hills, with drifting in strong winds.”
It adds: “There is also the possibility of a few cm of wet snow gathering at lower levels. At present the extent and amounts of any snow are very uncertain, and it is quite possible that snow might not be too disruptive.”
Monday sees two large events in town, the first being the public opening of Tŷ Pawb from noon and the second being Wrexham taking on Boreham Wood at the Racecourse at 3pm.
At yesterday’s formal opening of Tŷ Pawb we were told that organisers of the parades, fireworks, markets and all round fun-day celebrations were keeping an eye on the weather – and things will be going ahead as planned.
Various activities will be inside Tŷ Pawb and of course the old TJ Hughes on the day, so whatever the weather people can enjoy events both inside and out!
